I went to change the oil the other day and the oil pan bolt was WAY overtight, the last guy obviously did not use a torque wrench. Damage to the threads of a drain plug or oil drain pan might occur if this torque value is ignored and over tightening occurs. I'm not sure I would do this myself, but they make an oversize 12X1.5mm plug for automobiles. I use the torque wrench all the time on those drain bolts, 14.8 ft lbs on the oil drain and 11.1ft lbs on the screens. Leave it alone.
